The service is down for the second time today

Virgin Media has gone down again for many customers for the second time in a day.

Problems kicked off at around 2am, according to DownDetector, a website which tracks outages.

Another peak kicked in at around 7am, prompting the broadband provider to issue a statement after they appeared to have resolved the problem.

“We’ve restored broadband services for customers but are closely monitoring the situation as our engineers continue to investigate”, they said on Twitter.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

DownDetector is now showing another huge spike in loss of service at around the 4pm mark, with thousands of outages reported.

A statement from the company put on Twitter laments a “repeat” of the earlier issue.

They said: “Unfortunately we have seen a repeat of an earlier issue which is causing intermittent broadband connectivity problems for some Virgin Media customers.

“We apologise again to those impacted our teams are continuing to work flat out to find the root cause of the problem and fix it.”
