A violent criminal who left a woman "fearing for her life" has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison after appearing at Grimsby Crown Court.
Shiguang Zhong, 42, of Eden Road, Rugby, was charged with robbery and later pleaded guilty to the offence.
At around 1am on October 16, 2024, Zhong, along with four other men, confronted a woman in her home in Grimsby and violently assaulted her whilst demanding money.
Zhong then tied the woman’s hands up, leaving her terrified, before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Humberside Police
Shortly after the incident, Humberside Police received a call from a member of the public reporting they could hear someone shouting for help from the property and emergency services were swiftly deployed.
Following multiple lines of enquiry, including reviewing CCTV footage from around the area, detectives were able to identify the vehicle, with Zhong as the registered keeper.
Zhong also had a GPS tag due to previous licensing conditions, which showed he had travelled from Birmingham to Grimsby to commit the offence. He was arrested four days later.
Detective Constable, Jak Shepherd said: “I want to thank the woman for her strength throughout the judicial process. I know it wasn’t easy for her and the effects she suffered that night will be long-lasting.
“Nobody should be made to feel unsafe in their own home, and the aftermath of this terrible offence left the victim fearing for her life.
“This type of offending will not be tolerated, and I am pleased that Zhong is being held accountable for his crimes.
“We will always do everything we can to seek justice for victims to ensure our communities feel safe and criminals are held accountable for their actions.”
