A security guard has told how he confronted and disarmed a man who attacked a woman and a young girl with a knife in Leicester Square today.
Abdullah told GB News that he had been working at the shop where the attack took place for about seven months.
He said he ran out from the TWG Tea Shop to confront that attacker and said the police arrived on the scene very quickly.
Abdullah said: “I jumped on him, holding the hand in which he held the knife and put him down on the floor and just held him on the floor.
“I kicked the knife away from him and then a couple more people joined in as well and we just held him until the police came.
“In three or four minutes, the police arrived and they took him into custody.
“And the child, all my colleagues, they gave [her] first aid and then the police came and they gave first aid.”
A man in his 30s, who is said to be a stranger to the woman and child, was arrested.
The police later said the motive for the attack was unknown but is not thought to be related to terrorism.
