The union has raised concerns about safety and compensation, demanding fresh negotiations over rest day working conditions
The RMT union is calling for new rest day payment arrangements for train managers, following changes made to rest day allocations in 2021.
The union has raised concerns about safety and compensation, demanding fresh negotiations over rest day working conditions.
RMT regional organiser Kathy Mazur told GB News: "In 2021 they reduced all the rest days and now they're looking for staff to work their rest days without any incentive."
"We're looking for a rest day payment for the hard working train managers," she added.
Mazur added: "We want safety critical, proper safety critical staff on the train and they are paying their managers £400 a day to work these trains and that is a big safety issue to us."
The RMT is urging Labour to "come back to the table and negotiate a rest day payment."
