Watch dramatic moment London shoplifter is caught REDHANDED

A dramatic police video has captured the moment a prolific shoplifter was caught red-handed at a Co-Op store in Lower Marsh, Lambeth.

Inspector Watson and his team had been lying in wait in the store's backroom after the repeat offender returned to steal more items.

The footage shows Inspector Watson bursting from his hiding spot, shouting "you're nicked" before apprehending the thief who had been "ransacking" the shelves.

The shoplifter has since been jailed for his crimes.
