Five children are still in a critical condition in hospital

The Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has spoken out today after the Southport stabbings.

Speaking in the House of Commons she said: "What should have been a joyful start to the summer turned into an unspeakable tragedy."

The three girls were named as six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine.

Five other children are still in a critical condition in hospital, while the exact conditions of three other children injured are not known.
