Andrew Fox, who served three tours of Afghanistan and one year with the US Special Forces Parachute Regiment, has spoken out about the Hezbollah pager attack.
At least eight people were killed and 2,750 others, including Hezbollah fighters, medics and Iran's envoy to Beirut, were wounded on Tuesday when the pagers they use to communicate exploded across Lebanon, security sources and the Lebanese health minister said.
He told Martin Daubney on GB News: "I think we're possibly in the realms here of the very first weaponised cyber attack. You know, everyone's been talking about the threats to infrastructure of cyber, you know, potentially taking down power networks and that kind of thing.
"And yet here we're seeing a cyber attack weaponized to actually kill people or damage people. So this is a this is a fascinating evolution in technological warfare."
