WATCH: Chaos as elephant marauds streets of Montana after daring circus escape

An elephant is seen ambling through the streets of Butte, Montana in a staggering moment after it made a daring escape from the circus.

Footage showed the enormous pachyderm walking across a busy street filled much to the astonishment of passing drivers.

NBC Montana shared the video before the animal was recaptured without harm.

“The elephant is now safe with its handlers”, they said.

But it added: “Viewers say before the elephant was captured it did number two on a Butte lawn.”
