The 70-year-old man and 73-year-old woman died on Tuesday due to severe flooding that struck Missouri overnight.
The victims were swept away in their vehicles by swift, high waters in Beaver Creek, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The Wright County Clerk's Office expressed deep sorrow over the incident, which occurred as a result of intense storms that battered the area the previous night.

The bodies of the deceased were later recovered by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The Wright County Clerk's Office issued a heartfelt statement, praising the victims as "dedicated citizens who valued fair and honest elections".
"They were wonderful people who donated their time to serve their community", the statement added.
The office said it is not releasing their names for privacy reasons.

Two other vehicles were swept off roads due to the swift, high water near Beaver Creek.
Three individuals were able to escape by swimming to the shore, the state highway patrol said.
"With several areas of Missouri already impacted by this week's storms and heavy rainfall, we want to ensure state resources are available should further disruptions or damage occur", Governor Parson said in a news release.
"This action enables the state to be better prepared and ready to assist our communities with response and recovery.

"We urge Missourians to follow the direction of local authorities and emergency managers, use extra caution on the roads, and never drive into floodwaters."
Missouri declared for Trump - a result which was expected - with the state's 11 electoral votes going to the former President.
