Tucker Carlson has told Canadian Prime Minister that he intends to “liberate the country”.
The former Fox News host, who recently launched his own media company, is preparing a series of speaking engagements in the country currently governed by the progressive leader.
Carlson has been widely critical of Trudeau’s premiership, with particular aim taken at his Covid pandemic restrictions as well as suggesting he is intent on morphing Canada into a Cuba-like nation.
In a comment on the video, which he posted to Instagram, he teased: “See you soon, Canada.”

“Yes, hi. I couldn’t understand the French part, but it’s Tucker Carlson calling from the United States and I’d be grateful if you’d pass a message onto the prime minister, Justin Trudeau”, he said.
“We are coming to liberate Canada. We are coming to liberate Canada, and we’ll be there soon. Merci.”
Trudeau faces a battle in his country with his disapproval rate plummeting, prompting observers to suggest he adopts a new narrative.
Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has pointed to a cost of living crisis that includes soaring inflation, rising grocery prices and surging mortgage and rental rates to support the message that Canada ‘is broken’.

According to an Ipsos poll in November, a growing proportion of Canadians are keen for a change.
The surve suggests that over seven in ten, 72 per cent, now think it is time for the Liberals to undergo a change for the next election.
While no election is scheduled, the country legally has to hold one within the coming 21 months.
The current prime minister has hit out at right wing politicians, suggesting they are “not as fussed around democratic values”.
He argued in the past that they choose to “reflect back and amplify the very real anger and frustration and anxiety that people have”.
Trudeau argues that this tack often leads to people “feeling like they’re being seen and heard”.
The incumbent made those remarks last year in Montreal at an event for high-profile progressive politicians, according to Politico.
Tucker Carlson’s trip to Canada has faced push back from locals, with one telling the Edmonton Sun they were “appalled” to hear that he will be attending.
“Carlson, who is a disgusting, lying American, will spread his hate-filled rhetoric in our country”, they fumed in a letter, before adding that Canada is “better than that”.
