US Reporter and Author Mary Margaret Olohan has defended the community of detransitioners as she revealed that transgender communities across America shower them with "crazy abuse" over their decision.
Olohan, who penned the book 'Detrans: True Stories of Escaping the Gender Ideology Cult', revealed that after speaking to several people who had been through the "gruesome procedures" are now "emotionally scarred" after having their transition reversed.
Describing the transgender community as a "cult", Olohan explained to GBNA: "They go down this path of transitioning because doctors and therapists tell them that this will make them happy, which is an incredibly insidious thing to tell someone.
"Most of these people who attempt these transitions are struggling with mental health issues already - depression, anorexia - they're really struggling with and they do need help.
"But instead our medical system in the United States will tell them all your problems will all go away if you become a transgender man or a transgender woman."

Recalling her conversations with those who have decided that becoming the opposite gender was the wrong decision, Olohan said that the main factor which affirmed to them that it was the wrong decision was that they "didn't feel better" after their hormone replacements and surgeries.
Olohan said: "They told me the moment of recognition for a lot of them came when they got to that point where they had undergone these procedures, got to a certain point and thought, I don't feel better. I'm not happy."
When asked by GBN America Correspondent Steven Edginton what she learnt from her conversations with detransitioners, Olohan recalled that a lot of them claimed that they felt "lied to" by medical professionals.
Olohan told GBNA: "They started realising that they had been lied to, that these expensive procedures they had been pushed through had not been effective. As we know, you cannot change your body to become a man if you're a woman.

"I firmly believe that putting their stories out there and helping people to understand what they went through is one of the best ways to help people understand the impact of gender ideology, because they lived it."
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
When asked by Steven if the detransition community feel they are seen as "traitors" by the transgender community after revealing their decision, Olohan agreed, claiming they are often "cast aside" and hurled with "crazy abuse".
She expanded: "The transgender community that love bombed them and encouraged them to go this route say you'll be part of this persecuted minority group, you'll be very special, loved, included.
"And a lot of these young people who are attempting these transitions don't have an identity, they're very lonely. They don't fit in at school, they don't have a good family life, and they're looking for purpose and identity. And so the transgender community to them is kind of a refuge.
"And then once they realise this was all a lie, and they try and speak out about it, the transgender community just completely cast them aside. They're nothing, and worse than that, they're a traitor."
Mary Margaret Olohan claimed the transgender community operates like a 'cult' towards those who detransition

Criticising the transgender community and how they treat detransitioners, Olohan claimed they are an "insular community" who often "wish those who detransition were dead".
Olohan added: "Detransitioners are subjected to all kinds of hate, vitriol, and really offensive language. They're told that they were never part of the transgender community and that they want everyone dead.
"There's this insular community. They want it to be that way, it's very cult like. They want young people to feel that anyone who rejects their transgender identity hates them and wants them dead.
"And so when these detransitioners eventually say this wasn't real, I'm suffering, I wish I didn't do this, they're part of that outside group, and they're no longer in any way loved or respected by the transgender community."
