The homeowner said he would grow the plants as long as lived there

A heated neighbour row has erupted after a homeowner refused to move trees from the front of their property, much to the anger of nearby residents who claim the infestation has become a “jungle”.

The owner of the home in Ramblewood Court, Ohio, who has not been named, began growing some fig trees about five years ago.

The man claimed that he was fond of the look and taste of the fruit and began to grow some new varieties.

However, the rapid expansion of plants drew the ire of his neighbours as he is now believed to have dozens of plants on his property.

Footage from local news agencies shows dozens of pots on his front driveway, front garden and even on the pavement outside his home.

The images also show the man has constructed an elaborate watering system so that each one of the plants on his driveway receives the perfect amount of moisture.

According to the green-fingered man, he now has around 80 different varieties of figs.

One neighbour who lives across the street, Dipali Dutta, became so angry with the view from her home that she contacted the city code enforcement.

Dutta, from Columbus, Ohio, says she hates the way the trees look and claims the rampaging potted plants are affecting home sales.

“This is like a jungle,” Dutta told ABC News affiliate WSYX.

“This is not right...you cannot plant over there.

“The city people came one time. What’s he thinking? Why is he doing this?”

Following the complaints, the unnamed homeowner fought back by claiming he was growing the fruit to give it away to family and friends and claimed it was not an issue.

He even called the city code enforcement himself but rather than tell him there was a problem, the local agency told him to “grow away”.

The homeowner told WSYX that so long as he lived at the property, he would continue to grow figs.
