Morgan State University shooting: At least 5 shot after gunmen ‘open fire into crowd’

At least 5 people have been injured as a result of gunshot wounds after gunmen opened fire into a crowd at Morgan State University in Baltimore.
Baltimore police confirmed the situation was “no longer active” after the campus was placed into lockdown as students attempted to run for their lives.
First calls were made to emergency services at around 9.27pm last night, as the gunmen opened fire into a crowd during a pre-Homecoming ball.
The five victims aged between 18 and 22, are not believed to be critical, with four confirmed to be students at the university.

During a press conference at 2am, police said they have not arrested or ID’d any of the suspected gunmen.
Baltimore City Council Member Ryan Dorsey was told by police that there were three gunmen at the scene.
“Just received a call from BPD about a shooting at the Morgan campus,” Dorsey said.
“Five victims, none critical.

“It’s believed there were three shooters firing into the crowd, none apprehended or ID’d at this time.”
Following the shooting, the entire city was placed under tactical alert.
In their first statement upon receiving reports of the situation, police were quick to announce an active shooter situation.
They said: “BPD is on scene of an active shooter situation in the 1700 block of Argonne Drive.

“We’re asking everyone to shelter in place and avoid the area.”
Swat teams went door to door in a bid to check none of the gunmen were still on campus.
Morgan State University said in a statement at the time: “An active investigation is currently underway related to a report of shots being fired on or near campus.
“Please stay clear of the area surrounding Thurgood Marshall Hall and the Murphy Fine Arts Center and shelter in place.”
The University also confirmed classes would be cancelled on Wednesday.
