Over 35,000 migrants have been sent on buses from Texas

Joe Biden has been threatened by the Texas of Governor who vowed to send “even more buses” to the president’s doorstep in Washington DC should he go ahead with a plan to keep migrants in the southern state.

The president is reportedly planning to force migrants who cross the Mexico-US border illegally to remain in Texas while they await their asylum screening.

Officials said the proposals would be introduced as a way to reduce the flow of illegal migrants into the US according to the LA Times.

Under the proposals, migrants would be forced to remain in Texas and would be fitted with ankle trackers.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott laid down the law to the US president on social media, warning the president that such plans would never make it through a judge.

“Biden considers forcing migrant families to remain in Texas,” wrote Abbott.

“This scam was tried years ago & was shot down by a judge.

“We will send Biden the same swift justice.”

“And, we will add even more buses of migrants to Washington DC.”

According to the proposals to keep migrants in Texas, asylum seekers would be assessed and deported more easily due to their proximity to the border.

Texas recently implemented a busing programme to transport migrants to so-called “sanctuary cities”.

Examples of such cities include Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles.

Abbott argues that Texan cities have carried the weight of the migrant crisis thus far and that other cities need to share the burden.

“Texas has bused over 35,000 migrants to self-declared sanctuary cities,” he wrote on social media.

“Over 11,300 to D.C., over 13,300 to NYC, over 6,700 to Chicago, over 2,600 to Philadelphia, over 1,000 to Denver, over 480 to LA.”

Responding to the ‘Remain in Texas’ plan, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson said that the administration “is committed to expanding safe and orderly pathways for migrants to lawfully enter the United States, while imposing consequences to those who fail to use those pathways”.

They added: “Since May 2023, DHS has removed or returned over 200,000 individuals, including over 17,000 individual family unit members.

“DHS continuously holds policy and operational discussions on how to leverage our authorities to ensure a fair, humane, and effective immigration process that efficiently removes those without a lawful basis to stay in the country.”

Yesterday, GB News spoke to retired NYPD detective Bo Dietl who said New York City was “under siege” from migrants.

The 72-year-old ex-police officer told GB News: “What we have in New York City right now is this city under siege.

“I just drove by 50th St and Lexington Avenue, an old hotel that was closed down is being reopened. They are stuffing all these migrants in any and every place they can.”

He added: “Some of these illegals are murderers. They're drug dealers. All they are are people that want to cause harm to us.

“You also have good people, but you have to know who's coming into your country.”
