Secret Service protecting Biden's granddaughter open fire on three people attempting to break into SUV

Secret Service agents assigned to protect Joe Biden’s granddaughter were forced to open fire after three people attempted to break into a government-owned SUV.

The agents, who were assigned to Naomi Biden, were out in the Georgetown neighbourhood of Washington DC, when they caught the suspects attempting to break into the vehicle.


Three people attempted to break into the parked and unmarked Secret Service vehicle, a law enforcement official said.

Shots were fired, but it is believed no one was struck.

Following the incident, the suspects fled the scene in a red vehicle.

“On November 12 around 11.58pm in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC, Secret Service agents encountered possibly three individuals breaking a window on a parked and unoccupied government vehicle,” the agency’s spokesman, Anthony Guglielmi, said in a statement.

“During this encounter, a federal agent discharged a service weapon and it is believed no one was struck.

“The offenders immediately fled the scene in a red vehicle and a regional lookout was issued to supporting units.

“There was no threat to any protectees and the incident is being investigated by the DC Metropolitan Police Department and the Secret Service.”

According to the New York Post, DC has seen a marked surge in car thefts this year.

Police received reports of more than 6,000 stolen vehicles and more than 750 carjackings over the past year.
