Eamonn Holmes has warned Robert F Kennedy Jr against his presidential bid, suggesting the independent candidate has a “target on his head”.
The GB News presenter made the suggestion after the environmental lawyer announced his bid for the White House as an independent.
Known as RFK Jr, Kennedy had previously been a part of the race for the Democrat nomination but stepped aside to declare “independence” from America’s two political parties.
The anti-vaccination activist and member of America’s most famous political family could impact the 2024 election, although his own prospects of winning are slim.

Speaking on GB News, Holmes said the nephew of President John F. Kennedy could face a similar fate to his father and uncle given the hostile political climate in the US.
President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 while riding in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas. His father, Robert F Kennedy, was killed in 1968 as he sought the Democratic presidential nomination.

Holmes believes “nutcases” in America may be inspired to carry out their own sinister act on the presidential hopeful.
“From my point of view, I’m a great student of JFK (John F Kennedy)”, he said.
“The Bobby Kennedy assassination as well. If I was a member of his family, I would be saying ‘don’t do this’.
“Every nutcase in the land will be out to get him.”

Kennedy Jr has struck a chord with swathes of the American public with his criticisms of the Covid vaccines, often citing disproven theories.
The 69-year old pulled out of the Democrat race as he claimed the process was “rigged” and had denied him a chance of coming face-to-face with Joe Biden for a debate.
RFK Jr’s announcement unsettles the Biden and Trump camps in how it remains unclear just how the electorate will be swayed.
His Democrat connections could resonate well with the party’s core vote, but his willingness to stand on an anti-establishment platform could play well with Republicans who backed Trump.
Holmes’ concerns were not unanimously shared among the Breakfast with Eamonn & Isabel panel, as journalist Carol McGiffin waded in to laud Kennedy’s show of “strength”.
“I think he is prepared for people out to get him”, he said.
“He’s as tough as Trump. It’s good that he has ditched the Democrats, that was one of the only things holding a lot of people back from voting him.
“It’s going to be tough for him, I don’t know if he will get enough votes.”
Kennedy was not one to tow the Democrat line as a candidate for the party, opposing the push to support Ukraine along with his deep scepticism about vaccines.
