The former president is 'safe', according to a spokesman

Donald Trump would “likely be dead” if he had not made a key move as he was shot, according to American radio host Steve Gill.

The former president is “safe”, according to a spokesman, and has taken to his Truth Social social media platform to detail the moment a bullet “pierced” his ear before he was dragged to the ground by Secret Service agents.

The suspected gunman was killed while the Secret Service confirmed one person in the crowd had died and two others had been “critically injured”.

Speaking on GB News, Gill said Trump tilting his head the moment he was shot was pivotal in saving his life.

“We were a thumb’s breadth between a big news story and the death of a prospective president”, he said.

“This was a cataclysmic disaster by the Secret Service and we narrowly avoided a catastrophe and we should not overlook the man who died and the other two who are fighting for their lives.

“You note as you watch the clip that if Donald Trump had not tilted his head just at the moment the shot was fired, he would likely be dead tonight.”

GB News host Anne Diamond concurred with the points put forward by Gill, while adding how “defiant” the Republican presidential candidate looked as he turned to the crowd.

Gill responded: “That iconic photo of Trump just re-elected Trump to the White House.

“What’s disgusting is people on the Left saying ‘make America aim better’. Some have even been calling for the assassination of Donald Trump.

“The rhetoric of the Left resulted in this.”

Joe Biden spoke out after the scenes in Pennsylvania, saying “we cannot allow this to be happening”.

Secret service agents rushed the stage as footage from the event captured screams ringing out from the crowd.

The bangs continued as agents tended to him before Trump got back up and pumped his fist before he was whisked to his motorcade to leave the venue.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump said: “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.

“Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead.”

Spokesman Steven Cheung added that Mr Trump is “fine” and gives his thanks to “law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act”.
