Reform UK honorary president and Donald Trump ally Nigel Farage says the liberal left have “overplayed their hand” after the former president was convicted on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in his historic criminal trial.
Speaking on GB News, Farage says he has always questioned the judicial system in America, believing it is too political.
Now he feels the Biden administration and the liberal left have “overplayed their hand” with the Trump verdict, telling Stephen Dixon and Ellie Costello that the American public will see the move as political.
“I think the whole thing is a disgrace, it has been from start to finish”, said Farage.

“I have been concerned about the American judicial system for many, many years. It seems politicised in ways ours isn’t.
“Judges get elected on a ticket that says, ‘I am going to get Donald Trump’, so you have to doubt the impartiality.

“The point Trump made is that the district in which this was held, he got no more than 10 per cent of the vote, so the likelihood is the jurors were all Democrats, likely not Trumpites.”
He added: “I think the Biden administration and the US judicial system have massively overplayed their hand.
“It was interesting that within half an hour of the verdict, Trump’s donation website crashed. Huge numbers of people going on to give money to his campaign.
“The real key thing is what happens to those in the middle. My guess is, fair minded Americans will feel this is not showing their country in a positive light and this is probably the biggest election boost he could have had.”

Despite Trump now having a criminal conviction, Farage believes this will do little to hinder his prospects of securing a second term in the White House.
The former Ukip leader told GB News he is now “more certain” of Trump overcoming Joe Biden at November’s presidential election.
Trump himself called the verdict a “disgrace” and hit out at Judge Merchan, who presided over the case.
He will be sentenced on 11 July - the former president could face prison but a fine is the more likely outcome, according to legal experts.
The case centred on him allegedly falsifying business records to conceal a hush-money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
Daniels claims she and Trump had sex and that she accepted $130,000 (£104,000) from his former lawyer before the 2016 election in exchange for silence about the encounter.
Since the allegations surfaced in 2018, Trump has denied any sexual involvement with the adult film star.
Twelve jurors yesterday found the ex-president guilty of fudging records to cover up his former lawyer Michael Cohen’s payment to Daniels.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg thanked his team of prosecutors after the verdict, saying they pursued the case “without fear or favour”.
