Disney has been accused of having a left agenda in the past

Disney is "showing signs of light" with its latest film being "not woke at all," US political commentator Tim Young has claimed.

The broadcasting giant has received backlash in the past for having a left-leaning agenda in its films and has faced criticism for its recent casting choices.

Speaking to GBN America, Tim Young explained that Disney is now "not woke at all."

He said: "I think we're seeing that shift at Disney with the new Deadpool and Wolverine movie being absolutely not woke at all when a lot of their productions have leaned completely to the left.

"I think that when you lose $1billion as a company or more, which Disney has, they're starting to wake up to things. So hopefully that's one way that things shift."

He added: "When you take a look at these podcasts and the rise of people who, like, really Joe Rogan, I wouldn't even call him right wing.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"I think he's just someone with common sense. Same with Elon Musk. They call him extreme, right? He's just someone with common sense who's asking normal questions."

Last year Disney found itself embroiled in a bitter legal feud with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after they opted to criticise a state bill on sexual identity.

The bill looked to limit classroom discussion of sexuality and gender issues for younger students.

Disney CEO Bob Igor promised that the company’s focus is on entertainment rather than moralising.

He said: "Infusing messaging as the sort of number one priority in our films and TV shows is not what we’re up to. They need to be entertaining."

"And, look, where the Disney company can have a positive impact on the world—whether it’s fostering acceptance and understanding of people of all different types—great.

"But, generally speaking, we need to be an entertainment-first company, and I’ve worked really hard to do that."

Owner of the social media platform X, Elon Musk, is one of the many who has criticised Disney for its "woke agenda."

On April Fools Day, Musk posted: "Excited to join @Disney as their Chief DEI Officer.

"Can’t wait to work with Bob Iger & Kathleen Kennedy to make their content MORE woke! Even the linguini."
