Tatum cast doubt on some of the mooted replacements for Biden

The Democrats have to stick with Joe Biden as their candidate for the November election, US political commentator Brandon Tatum has claimed.

Speaking on GBN America, Tatum cast doubt on some of the mooted replacements and says the party has “thwarted” an opportunity with Vice President Kamala Harris.

It comes after a disappointing presidential debate between Biden and his Republican counterpart, Donald Trump, in which the 81-year-old is widely felt to have struggled.

Tatum told Mark Dolan: “This is terrible for the Democrats. I have never seen anything like this in history.

“They have a candidate who is a dementia patient who embarrassed their entire party on television yesterday.

“They have no choice but to take the loss because he is 100 per cent going to lose or they are going to have to replace him, which is another loss for them because they have nowhere to go.

“They cannot put a white person in front of Kamala Harris because they’re going to look like the party of racism, that they’ve thwarted the opportunity for the first female black president to exist.

“They’re going to have to put a white man over her. They’re going to implode in their party.”

Tatum said the two most feasible candidates to replace Biden are California Governor Gavin Newsom and ex-First Lady Michelle Obama, and he has doubts about both.

“The only chance they have got with anybody is Gavin Newsom”, he said.

“He runs the worst, failed state in the union.

“Then they have Barack Obama’s wife, who I believe is not that charismatic.

“She probably hates America and she doesn’t connect with the people very well.

“The Democrats have options, but every option they have available on the table sucks.”

While Biden was able to hit back at Trump with taunts about his recent criminal convictions, the former president was widely thought to have come out on top against his successor after he claimed the 81-year-old “doesn’t know what he is saying” in reference to his perceived cognitive decline.

The bout concluded with Biden delivering a statement where he stuttered as he warned voters about what he feels are clear dangers that would come with a Trump victory.

His struggles have prompted some within the Democrats to question Biden’s future, with some calls for him to be replaced.
