Michelle Obama could make a sensational return to politics as Joe Biden’s support continues to flag, a former US Attorney General has claimed.

Mark Brnovich joined Nigel Farage on GB News to discuss the prospect of somebody stepping in to replace the incumbent president.

The pair both feel it is unlikely that Biden will be the Democrat presidential candidate.

Brnovich detailed possible alternative candidates, with a Donald Trump face-off likely in the offing for whoever emerges with the nomination.

“They know Biden can’t win”, he said.

“I think he was trying to essentially make the argument that just in case anything happens, here I am.

“Sometimes you hear these murmurings about Michelle Obama or Kamala Harris, but the Democrats have put themselves in a real pickle.

“They’re kind of stuck with Joe Biden, but I do think behind the scenes, every Democrat I talk to is petrified that if it is Joe Biden versus Donald Trump, Donald Trump will win.”

Nigel Farage added that he is “hopeful” Joe Biden is the candidate as he believes this would give Donald Trump a simple route to the White House.

It comes after Biden’s approval rating hit an all-time low on Monday, with just 34 per cent of respondents to a new poll approving of the job he is doing in the White House.

In a stark contrast, 61 per cent said they were dissatisfied with his performance when asked by Monmouth University in a consultation conducted between 30 November and 4 December.

Reasons for Biden’s faltering popularity range from concerns about his advanced age at 81 and dismay at his support for Israel in. Its war against Hamas, with significant portions of his voter base being pro-Palestine.

The president is said to be well aware of his waning support, reportedly expressing frustration in private last month according to the Washington Post.

He reportedly suggested his message was not being heard despite the US economy growing and the rate of unemployment falling.

Biden has been asked about his predicament by reporters, with the US president claiming people are too focused on”the wrong polls”.
