Democrats have been thrown into chaos after Joe Biden’s “dismal” debate showing, according to CNN Chief National Correspondent John King.

The 81-year-old struggled to assert himself as he locked horns with his Republican counterpart and long-term political rival, Donald Trump.

The party has reportedly started exploring how it intends to remedy the matter.

“Party strategists, elected officials and fundraisers are having conversations”, said King.

“They’re having conversations about the president’s performance, which they think was dismal, which they think will hurt other party down the party in the ticket, and they’re thinking about what they should do about it.

“Some of those conversations include whether they should go to the White House and ask the president to step aside, other questions are whether senior Democrats should go public with that call.

“They feel this debate was so terrible.”

He said Democrats have declared “we have a problem” in private circles.

Biden found himself on the defensive as Trump was able to repeatedly take jabs at his opponent, claiming he is responsible for a spate of violent crime across America.

He said Biden is responsible for the “worst border in history”.

The president responded by hitting out at Trump’s record while president while also bringing up his Republican counterpart’s recent legal troubles.

Biden raised a controversial moment from Trump’s presidency where he allegedly said fallen US soldiers were “losers and suckers”.

“My son was not a loser and not a sucker”, he said. “You’re the sucker. You’re the loser”, he told the former president.

Trump hit back by saying the quote was “made up” and he never said it.

“Nobody has taken better care of our soldiers than I have,” he added.
