The woman said she would not spend Christmas or Thanksgiving with her husband's family
A woman has dramatically cancelled Christmas plans with her husband's family after they voted for Donald Trump in the US election last week.
Andrea Tate claimed she would not be celebrating Christmas or Thanksgiving with her in-laws in protest over the election result.
The to-be 47th President of the United States, won all seven swing states in the election, claiming the House and the Senate too.
Tate wrote told the Huffington Post of her despair at the result of the election, saying that she took to social media to feel better but discovered a post saying "God Bless America, God bless #45, 47," from her husband.

She wrote: "I immediately texted, ‘I love you, but out of respect for me and all my liberal writer friends, can you please take down that post?'
"It had a few likes, and a few commenters joined him in his celebration. He was downstairs in the kitchen making coffee, and I was upstairs avoiding him.
"I couldn’t talk to him — or even look at him.
"Tell your family I love them," she added: "But I will not be coming for Thanksgiving, and I won’t be hosting Christmas. I need space."
Her husband went on to apologise but she retained having little contact.

Tate added: "I was surprised he didn’t argue about the change in holiday plans. Normally, it would be a bone of contention because of how close he is to his family.
She wrote: "He must understand what this election outcome means to me. I know he has empathy for me, for which I am thankful."
The only thing her husband objected to was their son and his girlfriend returning home for Christmas.
To which Tate wrote: "We will have our own small holiday, and it will be fine."

The rant was posted on several Reddit forums and many individuals have come out in support of Tate's decision.
One user wrote: "Trump supporters already long ago gave this sinister, hateful aura.
"I thought I was overthinking or delusional when I felt strangely depressed after being even near them...but this election really has shown their true colours."
Another user added: "Wednesday morning of last week my wife said that she doesn't know if she'll ever want to see my family again because voting for Trump is a direct attack on her freedoms. I totally get this sentiment even if people think it's hyperbolic."
A third user recommended Tate: "Divorce him while you still can"
Another user wrote: "I’ve cancelled every single one of my Trump relatives. We usually have a whole family Thanksgiving gathering but we are done with that for the rest of our lives."
However, other users criticised Tate's decision with one saying: "Yes, separate yourselves from your families and isolate yourself completely, I’m sure that will do wonders for your mental health…"
Another user wrote: "I would cancel the marriage tbh. Wouldn't even need time to think about it. I don't want this maga bs in my life."
