US Political Commentator Candace Owens has shared her support for Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, as the party continues to dominate the General Election campaign trail.

This comes as Farage has demanded to be placed in the BBC's upcoming leadership debate after being left out by the broadcaster.

Addressing the snub at a recent press conference, Farage told supporters: "I would also very much like to do a debate head to head with Keir Starmer. And the reason is very simple. We think that this should be the immigration election."

Farage also declared that Reform are the "opposition to Labour" and demanded that the BBC "put us in the debate".

Discussing Nigel Farage's success so far in the election campaign, Candace Owens spoke to GBN America reporter Steven Edginton at the Turning Point USA Conference in Detroit, and claimed he is "the man for the job" to take on the Tories.

Owens told Steven she is "following his return" to politics and is "very excited" by it.

Owens revealed: "I think obviously people have felt tremendously let down, and I think you're seeing what's happening in America also happening in the UK, that they're realising that the parties in general have been letting the people down.

"And it's time for a shakeup and there's a time for something new."

Praising Farage's impact on the British political sphere, Owens told GBNA that someone like Nigel Farage is the "one you think of" when you want a "shake up" in politics.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Owens told GBNA: "There's no person, I think, at least in the UK conscience and throughout the world, when you think of a shakeup, you're thinking of Nigel Farage.

"If you're going to talk about England, you can definitely think Nigel Farage is the man for the job."

Steven turned the discussion to the 'Zero Seats' campaign, championed by the young Tory voters in a bit to prevent the Conservatives from winning seats in the election, in which Owens reaffirmed that there needs to be a "major shakeup" of British government.

When asked by Steven if we should be supporting the 'Zero Seats' movement, Owens explained: "I yield very much to my husband on the UK politics.

"I know that he is passionate and that there needs to be a major, major shakeup and that he is disappointed in the Tory party.

"So I'm saying nothing, but also saying that whatever needs to happen to get them to recognise how upset the people are and that we won't tolerate it in the future."

Owens also shared her support for the younger generations in the UK ahead of the election, and said the youth are "suffering" under the current Conservative government.

She concluded: "We won't tolerate these sleepy politicians that say they're going to do something and then don't commit to it, because the youth are the people that are suffering.

"They're living under an economy that's not desirable, they're not even able to aspire to real things in their lives because there's so much government control. So you need somebody different, you need somebody bold. And I support every initiative where people are saying, let's really shake things up."
