Between April and September, 795 crimes have been reported involving the camera

Hundreds of Ulez cameras have been damaged or stolen in the last six months, data from the Metropolitan Police has revealed.

Since April, 200 of Sadiq Khan's hated ULEZ cameras have been stolen and 595 vandalised.

At least 285 Ulez-related crimes have been recorded throughout September – the figure representing 36 per cent of Ulez camera attacks overall.

That equates to nine separate incidents on average every day.

The force started an operation in May to bring in “considerable resources” to tackle the issue.

Khan’s controversial clean air driving scheme was expanded in August.

Drivers of non-compliant vehicles now must pay a daily fee of £12.50 to drive into the city through the zones.

Many furious motorists have protested the scheme in a variety of different ways.

On September 22, a 52-year old man was arrested in Bexley on suspicion of criminal damage to a camera.

Two other individuals in separate incidents have been arrested in connection to damaging Ulez camera.

ULEZ LATEST:

Transport for London (Tfl) said: “Vandalism on our network is unacceptable and all incidents are reported to the police for investigation.

“Criminal damage to Ulez cameras puts the perpetrators at risk of prosecution and life-changing injuries, while simultaneously risking the safety of the public.

“Camera vandalism will not stop the Ulez operating London-wide.”

Yesterday, an anti-Ulez group demonstrated outside the mayor’s home.

Agitated drivers and motorists pitched tents and raised signs outside Khan’s property in South London.

Signs dotted around the front of the property read “Are you listening yet Mr Khan”; “Ulez expansion justified with lies”; and “Stop the toxic air lie”.

Group members also branded the Ulez cameras as “scameras” and demanded that Khan step down as mayor.

Last week, an anti-Ulez activist was been caught blocking one of Khan's enforcement cameras after pretending to break down just in front of it.

The vigilante, who is part of the group who call themselves the "Blade Runners", parked his car directly in front of a van fitted with a camera to impose the London ultra low emissions zone.
