Mass pro-Palestine protests have taken place in major UK cities

Nigel Farage is demanding a tough approach to Middle East tensions being played out on the streets of Britain.

Mass pro-Palestine protests have taken place in major UK cities such as Manchester, London and Birmingham and show little sign of slowing.

The latest major demonstration saw Liverpool Street station in London locked down as hundreds bearing pro-Palestine banners and flags descended on the major transport point.

Speaking on GB News, Farage admitted he is “not quite sure what to do” as the police push on with its efforts to tame the unrest.

“We’ve seen up in Leicester last year running street battles between Muslim and Hindu gatherings”, he said.

“And now we see a political agenda playing out in this country where the politics of the Middle East is writ large across Britain.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

“In 2015 in the general election I said unless we’re careful, we will build in our country a fifth column whose views and aims will end up completely contradicting the views and stated aims of our elected government.

“After I made that comment, my security moved to 24/7 for daring to say mass uncontrolled immigration would lead to problems.

“I hate to say I was right, but here we are. The scary thing is, at the moment, I’m not quite sure what we do. The numbers we’re dealing with are simply huge.”

More than 500 people joined a protest at Liverpool Street at around 5.30pm on Tuesday to demand an immediate ceasefire to Israel’s attacks on Gaza and an end to arms exports to Israel.

Palestinian music and chants such as “ceasefire now” could be heard from the crowds at the sit-in, which was organised by direct action group Sisters Uncut.

Questioned by Darren Grimes about the police appearing “one-sided” on the matter, Farage called for more “toughness”.

“This is socially, the most dangerous thing I have seen in this country in my lifetime”, he said.

“We’re going to have to get tough and lay down the law and say, ‘enough is enough’.

“I saw Brandon Lewis tweeting last night that the scenes in Liverpool Street were ‘unacceptable in modern Britain’, your party did it!

“Blair, Mandelson, Campbell were the architects. This is the diversity they wanted but the fact of the matter is, 13 years of Conservatives has made it worse.

“We are in trouble.”

The British Transport Police said after the demonstration: “Our officers dealt with a protest earlier this evening at Liverpool Street station. The station is back to normal operations.

“Anyone wishing to make a report related to the protest at Liverpool Street can text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40 with reference 324 of 31 October 2023.”
