Officers made the appeal after the suspect failed to appear in court

A 22-year-old woman who taunted police by commenting "hey guys" on her own wanted appeal has been arrested in Manchester.

The suspect was detained at a property in Fallowfield after mocking police attempts to track her down on Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) social media account.

Officers found the woman hiding beneath a pile of children's toys in a bedroom at the address, where she was taken into custody for questioning.

The woman was wanted for failing to appear at court on three counts of assault of an emergency worker, drugs offences and theft.

Footage captured by Greater Manchester Police showed the suspect lying beside a baby's cot, concealed by soft toys and a baby bouncer.

The video shows the woman being identified between soft toys, plastic figurines, clothes and cardboard boxes.

One officer is heard shouting to colleagues "she's here" as he uncovered the woman lying on her back on the bedroom floor.

She was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer during the operation.

The suspect remains in custody where she is being questioned by GMP detectives.

Detective Inspector Natalie McDonald, from GMP's Manchester Central Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: "We currently have a woman in custody being questioned by detectives thanks to the swift actions of our officers."

"We want to thank everyone who engaged with our post, it ultimately helped us to locate and arrest this woman and we have dedicated teams of officers across Manchester who are actively seeking and arresting those who are wanted," she added.

This is not the first time a wanted suspect has commented on their own police appeal on social media.

Last year, Avon and Somerset Police posted an appeal to locate Daniel Kellaway, 28.

The suspect was wanted in connection with a number of offences, including one count of threatening behaviour.

After police mentioned his "receding brown hair" in the description, an account claiming to be Kellaway responded: "No need to mention the hairline guys, I'm heading to Turkey to get it sorted then we will catch up."
