Disruption is expected until the end of the day

Commuters out of London are facing severe delays amid adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Henk.

Trains between London Euston and Watford Junction are being cancelled, with delays expected further along the line towards Birmingham New Street and Crewe.

A spokesperson from National Rail said: "Damage to the overhead electric wires and an obstruction on the track between London Euston and Watford Junction means that some lines are blocked.

"Trains at this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 50 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day."

Alternatively, Avanti ticketholders can use tickets on East Midlands Railway services between London St Pancras International and Leicester or on any CrossCountry services "via any reasonable route".

However, they have confirmed tickets are not being accepted on London Northwestern Railway Services.

The Metropolitan Police said a woman was taken to hospital after being struck by a falling tree in south-east London during Storm Henk.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called at 3.14pm on Tuesday, January 2 to reports that a woman had been struck by a tree in Station Approach, Orpington.

"Officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.

"The woman was taken to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Her family has been informed."

Storm Henk is also causing issues for the south of the country too, with commuters advised not to travel on Southern out of the capital.

A spokesperson from National Rail said: "Do NOT travel on Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink services south of London today."

Meanwhile, a failure of the electricity supply between London Paddington and Maidenhead means some lines are blocked.

National Rail is advising that those travelling between Oxford and London in both directions can use Chiltern Railway services between Oxford and London Marylebone, where you can connect for the Bakerloo line to continue your journey to London Paddington.
