Jo Cardwell smiled and said ‘thank you’ after Ricky Jones called for ‘cut throats’ of ‘Nazi fascists’
A woman who thanked a Labour councillor after he called for “cut throats” is a Stand Up To Racism organiser, GB News can reveal.
Jo Cardwell, 51, was the chief steward at a Walthamstow march on Wednesday evening when Labour councillor Ricky Jones called for “cut throats”.
Jones was arrested yesterday on suspicion of encouraging murder after footage circulated of him saying “they are disgusting Nazi fascists and we need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all.”
He added: “I just wanna say thank you all, I’m gonna leave it there,” then led a “Free Palestine” chant before adding “Thank you, God bless you all.”

He was then swiftly suspended by the Labour Party, who called the comments completely unacceptable.
His comments attracted significant public attention and condemnation, but there were additional concerns about the crowd cheering his comments - as well as apparent organisers not condemning the violent language.
After Jones finished speaking, a woman standing next to him in a hi-vis jacket took the microphone and said “thank you so much.”
The woman appeared shocked when the speaker made his reference to “cut throats” but then appeared to cheer.

She can now be named as Jo Cardwell, who was also filmed giving a speech at the Walthamstow march.
Stand Up To Racism had organised the march in retaliation to apparent far-right protests that were rumoured to be gathered - but never materialised - in the area.
The left-wing group shared footage of Cardwell giving a speech, captioning a post on social media with “Big up Jo... Our very own” and a love heart emoji.
GB News can also reveal that Cardwell was one of the protestors who disrupted a post-election Nigel Farage press conference in central London.

In his first major press event since becoming an MP, Farage’s speech was interrupted by protestors from Stand Up To Racism.
The group claimed responsibility and said: “We are speaking to the millions of people who will be appalled at the advances made by Reform UK, exposed as a racist party, and the divisive hate spewed by Farage.”
Cardwell did not respond to queries about why she failed to condemn the reference to “cut throats” when contacted by The People’s Channel.
A committed left-wing activist, Cardwell previously addressed a Marxist conference hosted by the Socialist Workers Party.

Also filmed cheering after Jones's shocking comments is a woman wearing an Amnesty International hi-vis jacket.
The charity also did not respond to requests for comment from GB News.
Rory Geoghegan, founder of the Public Safety Foundation think tank, told GB News: “It’s vitally important that political campaigners condemn and oppose calls for violence.
“It poses serious questions about the intentions of the rally in Walthamstow that a speaker should have made the remarks they did - not just without challenge, but with applause and cheering.”
