Abigail Waller was sentenced to three and a half years in jail for messaging teenage girls on Facebook

A transgender paedophile who has been jailed for three and half years after messaging schoolgirls on Facebook has accused their wife of communicating with the students instead.

Abigail Waller, 29, formerly known as Jamie, returned to the dock just three years after they were jailed for child sex offences. These included blackmailing a 13-year-old girl into sending explicit pictures of herself.

Just three months after being released, Waller began reoffending by sending messages on their wife’s phone to three young girls.

Waller created a fake profile, posing as an “attractive” young man named Jake Smith.

The 29-year-old sent messages to 13 and 14-year-old girls, telling them they were “so pretty” and “really beautiful”.

Whilst in court, Waller tried to argue that it was their wife of nine years who was responsible for the messages.

“She knows that I have been in trouble for it before in the past.

“I believe she was actually in another relationship with another, current boyfriend that she is with at this time and she wanted me out of the way without telling me.”

Portsmouth Crown Court heard that Waller used Lucy Waller’s second phone whilst she was out at work.

Lucy Waller told jurors that she had left the phone, a Samsung in a pink case, upstairs whilst she was out. She said she mainly used it as an alarm clock but the phone was connected to the internet.

The messages breached a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which Waller was given in 2020 after being convicted of sex offences. It prohibits any contact with children under the age of 18 and the use of devices connected to the internet without police permission.

Waller was jailed for five years but was released half-way through their sentence in May 2022.

During their time at the HMP The Verne, Dorset, Waller began identifying as a woman.

After sending messages to young girls in the summer of 2022, officers visited the couples’ house to discover the messages. The 29-year-old was then jailed for six months after admitting a breach to their SHPO.

However, appearing in court in November 2023, Waller denied four counts of breaching a SHPO but was found guilty after a three-day trial.

Sentencing Waller, Judge Michael Bowes KC said: “You have a serious record for offences involving children. Looking at your previous convictions, there is a very unpleasant background of seeking to blackmail children.”

“At your trial, you denied matters, seeking to blame your wife, but the jury convicted you.”
