Tory MP Bob Seely has hit out at the Church of England, claiming the institution is “complicit” in the facilitation of bogus asylum claims.
It comes as forty refugees on the Bibby Stockholm have reportedly started attending local churches amid fears that Christianity conversion may be used as a ‘loophole’ to remain int he country.
Worshippers in Portland, Dorset - where the barge is located - claim they are witnessing first hand the conversion of migrants to Christianity through UK courses.
Church elder David Rees told the BBC that a number of migrants were undergoing the process of becoming Christian.

“Local faith leaders have visited the barge and work with the council and the barge management in looking after these guys,” he said.
Speaking on GB News, Seely joined Bev Turner and Andrew Pierce to assess the “dire” situation the asylum system finds itself in, and claims the Church of England has to take some blame.

“The sad reality is, the Church of England is complicit in the abuse of the asylum system”, he said.
“We are hearing so often stories of the courts are rigging the asylum system in the interest, very often, of the criminals.
“It’s dire and we are trying to get a grip on it but it’s becoming this multi-headed monster.
“We’ve seen the bishops kicking off in the House of Lords, we’ve seen the way that so-called expert witnesses are saying that sex offender criminals in this country can’t go back to Somalia because the Somalians may not like it.

“Really Sherlock? That surprises me. So why do we have to have them in this country?
“It’s bad and we are trying to deal with it.”
Seely was quizzed about Italy’s new migrant arrangement with Albania, which will see two processing centres set up in the Eastern European nation.
The Tory MP insisted that Italy are copying Britain’s ideas and they remain in Sunak’s wake when it comes to tackling the migrant crisis.
“We’ve got the deal with Albania and the Italians are following our example, not the other way around”, he said.
“As a result, illegal migration from Albania has been dramatically reduced. We have reduced legal migration to 36 per cent, but it needs to go down much more.
“In most other European countries, it’s going up by over 50 per cent, so there is a downward trend here.”
