The toddler was rushed to hospital in critical condition but sadly died

A girl aged just 2 years old has died after being found in a village pond.

The toddler was reported missing from her home in Kingsley, near Bordon, shortly after 5pm on Sunday.


She was found in Kingsley pond after a search and rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Police confirmed the toddler had died in a statement on Monday evening.

The spokesperson added: “A woman, aged in her 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

“She is currently in police custody.”

In an earlier statement describing their initial arrival on the scene, the force said: “We were called at 5.02pm this evening (10 September) to a report of a two-year-old girl missing from her home in Forge Road, Kingsley, Bordon.


“The child was found nearby in Kingsley Pond and has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.

“Officers are making enquiries in the area to investigate the circumstances around this incident.”

The large pond is reportedly 574ft long and 236ft wide and is located around 330ft from the road where the toddler lives.

Cordons placed around the body of water have since been lifted.

In an update, the police said they were working to establish exactly what happened and called for anyone with information to come forward.

It read: “Officers are working to establish exactly what happened and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Kingsley Pond yesterday, prior to the incident.

“Officers will be in the area so please feel free to approach them if you have any concerns or information.

“A woman, aged in her 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. She is currently in police custody.
