A Tesco shoplifter has been jailed after stealing alcohol from a store that he had already been banned from.
Christopher Wainfur, 38, was barred from Tesco Express on Caerleon Road in Newport, Wales, after a criminal behaviour order was imposed last month.
Just a few days later however, the 38-year-old defied the ban and walked into the store on July 27.
Apart from defying the order, he also brazenly stole both food and alcohol worth almost £40.
Wainfur, of no fixed abode, was arrested and pleaded guilty to theft and breaching a criminal behaviour order.
Newport Magistrates' Court was told that he has "a flagrant disregard for court orders".
He was sentenced to prison for 12 weeks, six weeks for each of the two crimes.
Wainfur was also ordered to pay £85 in costs following his release from jail.

No order for compensation was made because there was "no loss or damage".
This comes as West Mercia Police issued an appeal for witnesses following reports of youths chasing each other with a weapon at another Tesco store in Stourport, Worcestershire.
The force said a male was chasing around two others with a "metal instrument".
Although original reports suggested the weapon was a machete, the police confirmed this was not the case and that instead it is believed to be a "short pole".
The man is described as white, aged around 16 to 17, of slim build with brown hair and wearing black shoes, black tracksuit bottoms, a bright orange top and a bag with a red and black strap.
Inspector Lisa Hornberger, of Wyre Forest Police, said: “We were called to reports of a male who was with two other males running around Tesco believed to be carrying a weapon this evening.
“We would like to reassure the public that, working with the store, it has been confirmed to us this is believed to be a short pole of some description and not a machete type instrument which has been rumoured on social media.
“We do not believe there is any wider risk to the public and are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward and help us identify this person and/or the people he was with so they can help us with our enquiries."
