Police are urging anyone with information to come forward

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in the early hours of Christmas Day in Norton Canes, Staffordshire.

The man, who was in his 30s, was pronounced dead following an incident at a property on Elm Road in the village.



A 33-year-old woman from Cannock has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Police were called to Elm Road at around 3.25am on Christmas Day following reports of a man in cardiac arrest.

Emergency services attended the scene, but despite their best efforts, the man was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We were called to a report of a man in his 30s in cardiac arrest on Elm Road. Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services at the scene, he passed away a short while later."

A crime scene has been established at the address and is expected to remain in place for several days as investigations continue.

A post-mortem examination was scheduled to take place on Boxing Day morning to help establish the cause of death.

Local residents will see an increased presence of neighbourhood officers in the area.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "A scene remains at the address whilst the investigation continues and is expected to remain for a number of days."
