SNP MP makes huge gaffe as he buys ENGLAND football shirt by mistake
HOUSE OF COMMONS
An SNP MP has admitted to ordering an England football top over Christmas in an embarrassing mistake.
Scottish independence advocate Stewart McDonald said he bought the top in the Boxing Day sales from Marks and Spencer.
He thought he had purchased a Scotland zipper but received an unwelcome surprise when he unboxed his parcel.
I had a smug moment on Boxing Day, logging on the online sales early to get some new clothes. I order a nice new zipper from @marksandspencer which has just arrived today and turns out it’s an official @England zipper. Awkward when you’re the constituency MP for @ScotlandNT 😬 pic.twitter.com/iwFNSPCTD7

The Glasgow South MP said on social media: "I had a smug moment on Boxing Day, logging on the online sales early to get some new clothes.
"I order a nice new zipper from Marks and Spencer which has just arrived today and turns out it’s an official England zipper.
"Awkward when you’re the constituency MP for the Scotland national team."
Hampden, where the Scottish national football stadium is located, falls within McDonald's constituency.
Marks and Spencer are currently stocking an "England collection" of smartwear such as tuxedo jackets and bow ties as well as more casual gear including polo shirts.
It says its collection will "take your smartwear game up a notch".
The high street brand promises "relaxed, modern tailoring, merino wool separates, footwear and accessories".
The collection was released ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
While England and Wales were both represented at the tournament, Scotland was missing after failing to qualify.
The team was beaten 3-1 by Ukraine in the World Cup playoffs.
It is thought the team missed out on £8million by to making to the competition in Qatar.
