The teenager admitted manslaughter but denied murdering the young Sheffield United fan.

Judge Jeremy Richardson KC remanded the defendant into secure local authority care.

The boy stood in the glass-fronted dock accompanied by an intermediary and three security staff members.

He will face trial on June 30 this summer.

Willgoose's family paid tribute to their "beautiful boy" in a heartfelt statement following his death.

"Our lives are devastated and will never be the same again," they said.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

They described Harvey as "a caring, loving and funny young man" who was loved by all who knew him.

His mother Caroline told the BBC her last words to Harvey were "I love you" before he headed to school on the day of his death.

She shared that football was Willgoose's passion, saying it "was his life."

Caroline also revealed her son had once aspired to become an actor, adding: "I think he would have been good at it."

Since his death, his parents have campaigned against knife crime in their community.

They have called for knife arches, similar to metal detectors used in courts and airports, to be installed in secondary schools.

The grieving parents said they "didn't want anyone to go through what we have".

They also expressed their desire to establish a youth club in Sheffield in Harvey's memory.

Harvey's funeral was held at Sheffield Cathedral just two weeks after his tragic death.

Hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects to the teenager.
