James Cowe quit healthcare and now makes more money from the subscription service

A former NHS worker has told GB News he quit working in healthcare and joined subscription service OnlyFans because it was “a better option” financially.

James Cowe, a former healthcare assistant for dementia patients left his job to pursue OnlyFans fame, earning a jaw-dropping £3,000 in his first week on the platform.

Speaking to Anne Diamond and Mark Longhurst on GB News Breakfast, James explained his decision, describing it as “the craziest journey I’ve ever done.”

Asked if it was demoralising work, James said: “I’m not sleeping with anyone on camera. It’s content creation.

“It’s just as hard work as what I was doing in healthcare, just a different style of work.

“I worked in healthcare for six years. Towards the end it was completely exhausting. I was earning £1,100 a month after tax and I was struggling to see a future.

“This was just a far better option for me.”

Like James, rising numbers of NHS workers and social care staff are turning to adult websites amidst the cost-of-living crisis, with James confessing that his previous £8 an hour paycheck left him feeling demoralised and financially insecure.

A one per cent pay rise offered to NHS staff was a “kick in the teeth” for James, after he decided to leave healthcare.

“In life we have the choice what we do with our work, so I decided to make this jump and it worked for me.

“Other healthcare workers, they are definitely leaving, not necessarily to go into OnlyFans but all types of industries. I think they’re leaving to go into any type of work, even hospitality where they might feel more appreciated. They’re getting paid even similar money just with less stress.”
