Protesters have scaled the Scottish Parliament building, decorating the rafters with a Palestinian flag and a sign reading "Stop arming Israel".

The Holyrood protest in Edinburgh comes amid ongoing conflict between the Palestinian terror group Hamas and Israel.

A police spokesperson said: “We are aware of the protest and officers are in attendance.”

The protesters appear to have targeted the Scottish Parliament ahead of First Minister’s Questions, held each Thursday at noon.

Despite the disruption, proceedings within Holyrood have continued, with First Minister Humza Yousaf attending the session on schedule.

This marks the latest of a number of high-profile protests held in recent weeks since Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, in which they killed more than 1,400 Israelis.

Concerns have grown that protests could even interrupt Remembrance Day proceedings this Sunday, with the Cenotaph believed to be a likely target.
