Sadiq Khan has faced fresh calls to tackle knife crime after the Mayor of London announced the return of Notting Hill Carnival.
The carnival, which is held over three days, will return for the first time since 2019.
Ahead of the event this weekend, Mr Khan wrote on Twitter: “Notting Hill Carnival is back.
“For the first time since 2019, I’m delighted that Europe’s biggest street party will return to West London this August Bank Holiday weekend.

“I can’t wait to return for this annual celebration of Caribbean history and culture—it’s free for all to attend.”
But people were quick to hit back at the Mayor of London following a spate of violent crime, including an 87-year-old man who was stabbed to death while riding a mobility scooter in Greenford last Tuesday.
One frustrated social media user replied to Mr Khan’s tweets about the carnival, saying: “How's the knife crime going?”
While another wrote: “All talk no action! Knife crime.”
A third added: "Zero grip on London.. Absolute clown..."
