A Labour Councillor has been suspended after being filmed calling for “cut throats” at an anti-racist demonstration in Walthamstow, GB News can reveal.
Addressing a large crowd on a microphone and speaker, Dartford Councillor Ricky Jones said: “They are disgusting Nazi fascists and we need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all.”
He added: “I just wanna say thank you all, I’m gonna leave it there.”
The man then led a “Free Palestine” chant before adding “thank you, God bless you all.”
After he finished speaking, a woman standing next to him in a hi-vis jacket took the microphone and said “thank you so much.”
The woman appeared shocked when the speaker made his reference to “cut throats”.
However, a number of demonstrators applauded and cheered Jones after his inflammatory comment.
The Labour Party has since confirmed Jones has been suspended over his remarks.
A Labour Party spokesperson told GB News: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and it will not be tolerated. The councillor has been suspended from the party.”
The Metropolitan Police also revealed it is urgently investigating the matter.
Scotland Yard said: "We are aware of the significant public concern around this video. Officers are investigating as a matter of urgency. We will update as soon as we can."
Footage of the speech circulated online this morning after protestors took to the streets across the country last night in response to warnings that anti-migration demonstrators would turn up.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:There was a very limited gathering of anti-migration groups as the intelligence about the protests turned out to be false.
Up to 25,000 protestors gathered across the country, with many making speeches and calling for “Nazis” to be taken off the streets.
One of the largest gatherings was in Walthamstow, east London, where left-wing groups flocked to the streets while clutching placards from the Socialist Workers Party.
Responding to the footage of Jones, ex-police officer Rory Geoghegan told GB News: “In the immediate aftermath of the Commissioner dismissing concerns of two-tier policing as ‘complete nonsense’, how the Met and any prosecutors handle the footage of someone using a loudhailer at the protest in Walthamstow to call for ‘cut throats’ will prove to be an important test.”
Ricky Jones joined other protesters in Walthamstow
Nigel Farage MP, the leader of Reform UK also posted on social media: “This man should be arrested. If not, we know there is two-tier policing.”
Ashfield MP Lee Anderson separately told GB News: “Let’s hope justice is as swift as it was for the protesters who were sent to prison this week for rioting. Over to you, Sir Keir.”
A Tory insider added: “These comments are utterly abhorrent and will fuel yet more violence.”
GB News has approached Jones for comment.
At around 4.15pm today, Met Police said “Officers have arrested a man aged in his 50s at an address in South East London.
“He was held on suspicion of encouraging murder and for an offence under the Public Order Act. He is in custody at a south London police station.”
