Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said she shares "deep concern" surrounding the video of a police officer kicking a man in the head

Richard Tice, Deputy Leader of Reform UK, has hit out at Labour following their reaction to the incident at Manchester Airport on Wednesday.

A police officer was filmed kicking and stamping on a man's head on the floor in Manchester Airport leading to public outcry online and protests.

According to the Greater Manchester Police, the incident took place after three officers were violently attacked while trying to make arrests leaving one officer with a broken nose and all three needing hospital treatment.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper released a statement following the incident stating she shares "deep concern" surrounding the video and welcomes the "initiation of an independent investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct."

Responding to the post on X, Richard Tice said: "So no concern for the police officers assaulted and hospitalised by the assailants?

"No concern that they broke the law by attacking police officers? Labour: soft on crime, soft on criminals."

Labour and Co-Operative MP for Rochdale Paul Waugh also released a statement stating the footage was "truly shocking and disturbing."

He continued: "Like many who have seen this clip, I am extremely concerned. I have had it confirmed that the man arrested is a Rochdale resident and I hope to meet the family as soon as possible."

Richard Tice said he was "genuinely shocked" by Waugh's statement asking where his concern for police officers protecting the public was.

Tice said: "Where is your concern for police officers bravely trying to protect the public, who were assaulted by your constituent?

"Your chap broke the law with actions such that he had to be tasered. He was lucky not to be shot by these armed police; which is what would have happened in many other western nations. Is this new Labour- soft on crime, soft on assaulting police officers?"

Tice also posted on X: "So @YvetteCooperMP and @paulwaugh clearly do not care about the assaults on three police officers as long as they kowtow to the lawbreakers. Disgraceful."

Protests continued for a second night on Thursday evening following the incident at the airport with roads and tram lines blocked in Manchester city centre.

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham's office chanting slogans such as "No justice, no peace, no racist police."

GB News host Michelle Dewberry hit out at cries of “racism” stating: “I do find it a little bit concerning. You have a protest taking place by a group called Manchester Stand Up to Racism.

“They are saying they have this protest against racist police. I am just asking, what evidence have you got that this was motivated by racism?

“There’s groups asking if it was Manchester Police carrying out a George Floyd-type killing? I mean, come on now.

“I just find these protests outside of police stations where you have community mobs dictating, I have a bit of an issue with that. It was the same that we see in Harehills. We saw people setting fire to buses.

“I get a little bit worried we’re teetering on the edge of mob rule in this country."

Watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is now investigating the incident.
