The woman fell ill while shopping

A woman has tragically passed away in a Primark store after experiencing what has been described as a medical episode.

Police cordoned off the town centre location after the incident ocurred.


Emergency services were alerted to the situation in Market Place, Oldham, Greater Manchester, after concerns about the welfare of a woman inside the store.

The woman is said to have fallen ill while shopping.

An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene, landing in a nearby Sainsbury’s supermarket car park.

Paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service were also on site, treating the woman in front of shocked onlookers.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that the 60-year-old woman suffered a medical episode and was later pronounced dead.

No additional details have been provided, and the death is not believed to be suspicious.

A police spokesperson stated: "We were called to reports of a medical episode. A 60-year-old woman sadly passed away."

Last year, an elderly man also tragically passed away after falling ill outside Primark in Barnstaple town centre.

Emergency services were called to the High Street at 2:40 pm on July 26.

Despite the valiant efforts of passersby and paramedics, the man, believed to be in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed: "Police were called by ambulance at 2.40pm today, 26 July, following concern for the welfare of a man in Barnstaple.

"The man in his 80s had become unwell on High Street.

"Despite the best efforts of members of the public and emergency services, the man died at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious."
