Paul Cox has blasted Secretary of State for Education Gillian Keegan after she claimed that the Clapham corrosive substance attack is "not really about asylum".
The Tory politician has been criticiaed for her remarks as police continue the manhunt for Abdul Ezedi, who is suspected to have attacked a woman and two children.
Ezedi arrived illegally in the UK from Afghanistan on the back of a lorry in 2016 and was twice denied asylum.
However, he was granted leave to remain in 2021 or 2022 after claiming he had converted to Christianity and had a priest confirm his religion.

Speaking to Sky over the weekend Keegan said: “My understanding is the Home Secretary has asked for all the details.
"But this is not really about asylum. This is about the attack on a mother and her children, which was horrific and impacted others as well, some people who went to her assistance and the emergency services.”
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Comedian Paul Cox disagreed with this comment and claimed that "she's just trying to skirt the issue."
Speaking on GB News Headliners, Cox said: "So the Education Secretary says the case involving the alleged assault by Abdul is not about flaws in the system.

"When she was asked about it, she said that they were conflating the two things. My assumption is she's just trying to skirt the issue here and I don't know why.
"She's quite a competitive politician. Normally she faces things head-on, but for me, this is quite clearly systematic of a problem with the asylum system. A guy who tried to enter the country two times with a sexual assault to his name, couldn't get in.
"He then converted to Christianity with the sexual assault to his name, and they let him in.
"Sometime after that he went on to attack a woman in Clapham with acid and proceeds to walk around the country with a hole in his face and nobody seems to be able to find him."
He later added: "I mean it's all about truth and people are scared of the truth. You can avoid using words such as Muslim or brown but you have got to talk about exactly what's happened.
"We've got an essential system. We've got our own crime. Nobody is saying at any point that this is the paradise. However, we are now importing crime when we don't need to."
"I think people just need to look at it very factually. Otherwise, you're not going to solve it. It's a strange choice for the Tories, who already alienated people by not representing them on several issues."
A national manhunt has been launched by police, and officers have since raided two locations in London and a home in Newcastle in connection with Ezedi. Police confirmed they found "two empty containers with corrosive warnings on the label."
Police are offering a £20,000 reward in a desperate plea for information, leading to his arrest.
