Transport for London suspended the driver pending an investigation
A tube driver who led a "deeply troubling" pro-Palestine chant has been suspended by Transport for London.
The unnamed driver, who was operating a London Underground train on Saturday, was suspending pending further investigations into the incident.
Video footage from the train, which was shared on social media, showed a number of people gleefully smiling as the driver led the popular "Free Palestine" chant.
He added: "Hope you all have a blessed day today, look after yourselves ... and keep all those people in your prayers."
The driver's remarks over the train's public announcement system were met by cheers by those stood in the crowded tube carriage.
Glynn Barton, TfL's chief operating officer, said: "We have been urgently and thoroughly investigating the footage appearing to show a Tube driver misusing the PA system and leading chants on a Central Line train on Saturday.
"A driver has now been identified and suspended whilst we continue to fully investigate the incident in line with our policies and procedures."
Footage of the tube driver seemingly participating in the pro-Palestine chant has since been condemned by a number of commentators.
