Crowds gathered outside King's College London as calls for a ceasefire continue

A pro-Palestinian protest has erupted outside King's College London as activists chanted about honouring "martyrs".

Footage circulating on social media showed hand-clapping demonstrators congregating with placards and Palestinian flags.

The 10-second video showed protesters chanting: "We will honour all our martyrs."

Demonstrators gathered outside the Russell Group university amid growing calls for a ceasefire and ahead of another controversial pro-Gaza march on Remembrance Day.

Pro-Palestine protesters have escalated since Hamas brutally attacked Israel on October 7.

The onslaught resulted in 1,400 Israelis being killed and 200 being taken hostage.

Attacks in response by the IDF took the death toll of Palestinians in Gaza above 10,000, the Hamas-run Health Ministry has claimed.

Calls for a ceasefire have led to weeks of demonstrations and a number of Labour MPs putting pressure on Sir Keir Starmer to alter his stance.

However, Rishi Sunak currently finds himself grappling about what to do with Suella Braverman after the Home Secretary penned an incendiary article accusing police of "playing favourites" by allowing a pro-Gaza "hate marches" on Armistice Day.

The situation has soured relations between Braverman and Scotland Yard, with Metropolitan Police chief commissioner Sir Mark Rowley highlighting MPs make the law.

He added: “There is no absolute power to ban protest, therefore there will be a protest this weekend.

“The law provides no mechanism to ban a static gathering of people.

“It contains legislation which allows us to impose conditions to reduce disruption and the risk of violence, and in the most extreme cases when no other tactics can work, for marches or moving protests to be banned.”

However, pro-Palestine protests have been slammed by Conservative MPs after poppy sellers at Charing Cross Station were surrounded last weekend.

Recent rallies have seen officers injured with fireworks, protesters holding up extremist imagery and multiple people arrested for antisemitic chanting.

KCL has previously witnessed protests against Israeli officials, with activists gathering against former Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor in 2018.

Pro-Palestine protesters also stormed past security, threw chairs and set off a fire alarm during a protest against the former head of the Israeli secret service Ami Ayalon in 2016.

GB News has approached KCL and the Metropolitan Police for comment.
