The North Korean dictator crossed the Russian border on Tuesday

A chilling nuclear warning has been issued as Vladimir Putin appears to strengthen ties with Kim Jong Un.

The North Korean dictator crossed the Russian border on Tuesday ahead of talks with the Russian president in an undisclosed location.

A US official said Russia is facing a Ukrainian counter-offensive, meaning talks with North Korea have been deemed necessary in order to secure an arms deal.

According to defence expert Robert Fox, the two estranged leaders meeting could have more sinister consequences.

He told GB News that North Korea is seeking to secure a boost for their missile program, something which could initiate a “nuclear arms race”.

“I think we have to look at what Mr Kim wants out of this”, he said.

“He will want help with feeding his population, and also his missile programme which is very dangerous for Ukraine.

“Also, it is dangerous for the development of the nuclear arms business.

“This is the awful thing now, you’ve got a permanent member of the UN, namely Russia, abetting possibly a nuclear arms race promoted by two rogues, North Korea and Iran.”

Despite previous instances showing Russian concern over North Korea’s nuclear capabilities, Fox added that Putin is willing to “do anything” to secure what he wants as he continues to wage war on Ukraine.

“The thing that is very consistent with Putin is he is famous for not sticking to any agreement”, he said.

“If there is one hidden factor in this, we don’t know how it’s going to work.

“The net winner of all this is China, they must be directing things in the background.

“They find both North Korea and Russia to be very awkward allies. They will only want this relationship we are now seeing develop further to go a certain extent.

“They won’t want it to be a recipe for an endless war in the middle of Europe.”

Kim’s train is rumoured to include at least 20 heavy bulletproof carriages, meaning the extra weight significantly hinders its speed.

The White House said it had new information suggesting that negotiations between Russia and North Korea on a weapons deal was “actively advancing”.

Fox branded the meeting “very strange” as Kim trundles towards the rallying point.

“Neither leader is too keen on testing their credibility with an adoring public”, he said.

“It’s a very strange meeting. Both sides will want something, that’s what the US and UK are trying to find out at the moment.

“It’s just not food for the starving North Korean population.”
