The "undiscovered" bodies of two women have been found inside a property in Nottingham, police have said.

Officers were called at 11.04am yesterday to Hartley Road in Radford after concerns were raised over the welfare of the people living inside.

In the property, police discovered the two bodies, which they said they thought "had lain undiscovered for some time".

Authorities are still at the property in South-West Nottingham this morning, after police, a private ambulance, and forensics teams were seen arriving yesterday.

It is understood that a mother and her teenage daughter have been living at the address, according to NottinghamshireLive, while a neighbour said the property's windows had been open since February.

The home - a two-storey house on the corner of Trafalgar Close and Hartley Road - remains cordoned off, while local media reported its front and back gardens were "significantly overgrown".

Nottinghamshire Police's Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow said police did not believe there was any immediate risk to the public.

She added: "We are keeping an open mind into what has happened at this address and will be working hard over the next few days to establish how and when these two women lost their lives.

"In the meantime my thoughts - and those of every other officer involved in this investigation - are with those who have died, their family and friends."

Tony Greaves, 60, from Radford, who moved to the area from Birmingham, told GB News: "I only live five minutes away from here, and it's getting a scary place, Radford.

"Why didn't anyone contact these people? All these people are just sitting back saying we've done this check and that, but they've done it too late. People are dying.

"This can't go on anymore. We're all treading on egg shells. Most people just stay indoors.

"I don't want to see people dying on my doorstep... I am very shocked. It's upsetting. You don't want it in your area. Everyone is gonna be on alert now."

Alan, from Mansfield, who works at United Carpets across the street from the home on Hartley Road, told GB News: "You used to see them around, but not too often."

"I haven't seen them for a while, maybe a week or two or three. I'm surprised some people are found dead on the street, but not surprised by the area. There's been stabbings and all sorts round here."
