Explosions heard on residential street as bomb squad rushes in to deal with 'suspicious package' and evacuates residents

Two loud explosions were heard in the Lenton area of Nottingham
Explosions have been heard as a bomb squad continues to deal with a suspcious package on a residential street.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed it was dealing with a "suspicious package" on Park Road in Lenton.
Officers were initially alerted of an incident earlier today at around 2pm.
Bystanders assembled outside the nearby Tesco Express screamed as explosions went off.

A police drone remains in the sky above the property where all the activity now appears to have moved to.
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "This is an ongoing incident and we’re dealing with it as a major incident, alongside other emergency services, and will be providing further regular updates on our website and social media.
"Residents are urged to avoid the area at this time and we’d like to thank them for their patience and understanding."
Fire engines, police vans, police cars and a bomb disposal unit are all at the scene.
In a statement released earlier today, Nottinghamshire Police added: "Emergency services have been responding to the incident since around 2pm today and a police cordon has been set up.

"Residents have been evacuated as a precaution."
Images from the scene showed a cordon in place and roads closed in Lenton on Derby Road.
Residents have reportedly spoken of their fears with some families split from relatives within the cordon and others unable to access their properties.
