The coroner made the request in order to help understand cause of death

Divers have returned to where Nicola Bulley drowned, upon the request of the coroner.

Specilaists have been asked to return to the stretch of the River Wyre in Lancashire where the mother of two went missing in order to help confirm her cause of death.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We can confirm we are carrying out some work on the direction of HM Coroner."

A spokesman for HM Coroner added: "The investigation will take time to complete to ensure that as complete a picture as possible of the facts concerning Ms Bulley's death is presented at the inquest.

"This will assist the family in understanding what occurred."

Nicola's body was found in on February 19 in the reeds of the river.

Her body was found a mile downstream from where her mobile phone was found on a bench.

The discovery came after a 23 day hunt to find the 45-year-old, who first disappeared on January 27.

The coroner asked for more information on the cause of death

An inquest into her death is to be heard on Monday, June 26 at County Hall in Preston.

Police had searched the stretch of river where Nicola was found at least twice before her body was found.

Professional teams and underwater specialists used high-tech equipment to monitor the Wyre in a bid to find her.

However, more than three weeks after first going missing, it was a man and a woman on a Sunday walk who first saw her body and reported it to the emergency services.

In a heartbreaking statement released after Nicola's body was found, her family said: "We will never be able to comprehend what Nikki had gone through in her last moments and that will never leave us.

"We will never forget Nikki, how could we, she was the centre of our world, she was the one who made our lives so special and nothing will cast a shadow over that.

"Our girls will get the support they need from the people who love them the most."
