A woman has found herself in a bitter dispute with her neighbours after making what she described as a "polite request" for them to stop smoking near her toddler's window.
The pair "used to have a good relationship" until the incident, she revealed in a post on Reddit.
"The smoke was blowing directly into my son's room," she explained, justifying her request to the husband.
What began as a simple concern for her child's wellbeing quickly spiralled into an ongoing neighbourhood conflict.

"After that, everything went downhill," the woman shared in her post.
The neighbours began to "blast music at all hours", giving her another reason to complain.
After returning home from a "six-hour flight with a migraine", she sent a text to the wife asking if they could lower the volume.
Despite making only a "handful of reasonable requests" over four months, the situation deteriorated when the wife "snapped back", accusing her of being "petty for asking them not to smoke".
The woman noted that her neighbours also have a toddler but "clearly don't care about smoking around him".
The situation escalated further when the neighbours began making false accusations against the woman.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Inspectors showed up at her home to check for "illegal construction" and to verify if her pets were vaccinated, which they were.
"It's obvious they're filing anonymous complaints out of spite," she wrote.
The woman pointed out that while she owns her home, the neighbours rent their property.
She expressed concern about making complaints that would affect the landlord rather than the troublesome tenants directly.
The woman's frustration led her to seek advice online, describing the husband as "a total d**che" and requesting "petty but satisfying revenge ideas" that would be legal.
However, commenters quickly cautioned against this approach.
"Revenge doesn't work for professional a**holes," one person warned. "They get off on the fight, so they will do something 50 times worse to you."

PAThe same commenter advised that with such "monsters", revenge only complicates matters and leads to escalation.
"Get cameras, avoid interaction and change your schedule if you can," they suggested.
Another commenter suggested a more measured approach: "Use a little notebook to write down dates, times and what happens. Its good for your mental health to just jot it down, close it and think about something else."
They added that such documentation could serve as evidence for police if needed.
A third person shared their failed attempts at neighbour revenge, including "calling cops, playing loud 'annoying' music, a loud leaf blower at 3am".
"It's never worked, ever. They either continue with their bulls**t, or it gets much worse," they concluded.
